Role Overview
Nexigen is seeking a Chief Technology Officer to own the technical direction, delivery discipline, and long-term coherence of the company’s platform. This role assumes that automation and cybersecurity are foundational infrastructure, inseparable from reliability, scale, and trust.
The CTO is responsible for ensuring that Nexigen’s architecture, processes, and people mature together. This includes designing systems where automation governs lifecycle operations; developing technical leaders and delivery capacity; establishing repeatable processes; and advising customers at an executive level through structured vCTO engagement. The CTO will also be responsible for ensuring alignment to Nexigen’s technical policies from a compliance standpoint.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone who can operate simultaneously as an architect, executive advisor, organizational builder, and external technical authority.
Core Responsibilities
Technology Strategy, Architecture & Automation
Define and execute Nexigen’s technical strategy across infrastructure, cloud, security, and automation with Nexigen technical team.
Establish automation as a first-order design principle, governing identity, security response, monitoring, remediation, backup, and change management.
Own architectural standards that integrate with security team leveraging security controls, automation, observability, and resilience.
Ensure systems are designed for repeatability, auditability, and controlled evolution.
Translate emerging technologies into offerings that are operationally sustainable and commercially defensible.
Delivery Leadership & Execution
Client facing, authority working on revenue generation problems and capabilities.
Lead the Solution Architecture Group and implementation specialists across Microsoft, networking, security, firewall, cloud, and systems initiatives.
Oversee system moves, adds, changes, and transformation projects with automation embedded throughout the lifecycle.
Ensure work is properly scoped, architected, documented, and executed.
Maintain disciplined standards for diagrams, runbooks, configuration baselines, and handoffs.
Participate in technical policy design and implementation, ensuring Nexigen maintains the highest degree of compliance for our customers.
Resource Development & Organizational Maturity
Build and develop technical leadership capacity across architecture and implementation teams.
Identify skill gaps and create structured development paths for engineers and architects.
Establish role clarity, expectations, and accountability within technical teams.
Mentor senior staff and actively develop successors for critical roles.
Ensure Nexigen’s technical bench scales with business growth.
Help educate internal teams with technology and tooling gaps
Process Development & Operational Rigor
Design and continuously refine technical and delivery processes that reduce friction and failure.
Establish repeatable frameworks for:
Architecture review and approval
Automation design and governance
Security and technical risk assessment
Change management and escalation
Post-implementation validation
Eliminate ad hoc practices that undermine consistency or reliability.
Ensure processes support judgment and accountability rather than bureaucracy.
Client Advisement & vCTO Practice Leadership
Serve as senior technical advisor in key customer relationships and vCTO engagements. Develop practice in this space across smb (under 10 billion) to enterprise.
Guide customers through technology roadmaps, risk prioritization, and investment decisions.
Ensure automation and security are positioned as strategic enablers, not line items.
Support vCTO practice development by:
Defining advisory frameworks and standards
Ensuring recommendations are technically defensible and executable
Coaching vCTOs and account leaders on complex technical topics
Participate in executive business reviews, board-level discussions, and strategic planning sessions with clients.
Client Engagement, Proposals & Commercial Support
Act as senior technical authority in executive-level customer engagements and escalations.
Lead or materially contribute to proposals, complex SOWs, architectural designs, and solution narratives.
Clearly articulate trade-offs, risk, and long-term implications to non-technical executives.
Support major accounts and strategic sales efforts alongside leadership.
Partnerships & Platform Stewardship
Own Nexigen’s partner programs and ensure technical and architectural alignment across the stack.
Maintain deep expertise and strong relationships with key partners, including:
Fortinet
Microsoft
Cato Networks
SaaS Alerts
N-able
Backup and data protection platforms
Additional cloud and automation-adjacent vendors as required
Evaluate partners based on integration quality, automation maturity, security posture, and customer value.
Rationalize tooling to avoid sprawl, redundancy, and operational drag.
Training, Enablement & Thought Leadership
Raise internal technical maturity through structured training and enablement programs.
Support customer training, workshops, and executive briefings.
Represent Nexigen as a technically credible authority in automation-driven managed services.
Contribute to public speaking, content, and industry participation where appropriate.
Governance, Risk & Quality
Ensure automation, security, and operational risk are governed together.
Establish clear guardrails for change, exception handling, and escalation.
Own technical risk decisions and ensure they are explicit, documented, and understood.
Preserve architectural coherence as Nexigen scales.
Work with security and compliance to ensure alignment with Nexigen policies.
Required Qualifications
Senior technical leadership experience (CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Architecture, or equivalent), ideally within an MSP, integrator, or technology services firm.
Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft ecosystems, cloud, identity, and security.
Strong background in networking, firewalls, cloud connectivity, and systems architecture.
Demonstrated experience designing and operating automation at scale.
Proven ability to lead delivery organizations and executive-level advisory conversations.
Exceptional written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology field.
Ability to transport to and from work sites.
Diagnosis skills of technical issues

Technical awareness: ability to match resources to technical issues appropriately
Service awareness of all organization's key IT services for which support is being provided
Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide IT services

Typing skills to ensure quick and accurate entry of service request details which requires finger and wrist dexterity in a repetitive motion.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of your working day.
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office and up and down stairs to access hardware storage rooms, office machinery, etc.
Constantly positions self to maintain computers in the lab, including under the desks and in the server closet.
The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, clients and contractors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Must be able to detect and/or recognize software, hardware and operating systems on or used to operate computers.
Preferred Experience
Direct experience with Fortinet, Cato Networks, SaaS Alerts, N-able, and enterprise backup platforms.
Experience integrating security platforms with automated response and remediation.
Experience supporting or building a vCTO or technology advisory practice.
Exposure to regulated, security-sensitive, or high-availability environments.
Public speaking or industry thought leadership.
